Potential Changes to Pet Policy
For Immediate Release
All Association Members
The Board will discuss and vote on a change in our pet policy at the January meeting and we invite your input over the next few weeks leading up to the meeting. The Board is considering a new set of rules and regulations allowing owners to bring pets on property while still excluding guests from having pets. Another phase at Plantation is also considering this change.
The phases of Plantation comprise the only resort that currently restricts owners from having pets in Fort Morgan. Allowing owners to have their pet at their second home increases the number of potential buyers and in turn, drives up the value of our condo’s. The Beach Club, Martinique, Kiva Dunes, and both high rises at the Fort allow owners the privilege of pet ownership while prohibiting guests and have experienced fewer, not more problems. Allowing owners to have pets also allows us to designate and control their behavior. The issue we have with pets now is almost 100% centered around owners that smuggle their pet on property and sneak them out to walk or claim it is an emotional support or service animal. Allowing dogs means we can designate where they need to be walked, what area can be accessed, the number of pets occupying a unit, etc.
